Book Description (from Amazon.com):
The scream heard by no one is the deadliest.

In the rural parishes of Louisiana's French Triangle, young women are disappearing one by one, only to turn up on the banks of the bayou, strangled and cast aside where they are sure to be found. But there is one trophy the killer prizes above all others, one woman who must be silenced forever....

Attorney Laurel Chandler did not come back to Bayou Breaux to seek justice. That once-burning obsession had destroyed her credibility, her career, her marriage--and nearly her sanity. But when a ruthless predator strikes too close to home, she's lured into a perverse game from which there may be no escape. Once before, Laurel's cries against a monstrous evil went unanswered. Who will listen now?

I haven't read this book. I purchased it a couple of weeks ago at the Wells Branch Community Library for trade/release.

This book is reserved for gypsysmom as part of a trade for Imperial Earth by Arthur C. Clarke from my wishlist. She initiated the trade as part of the Never Judge a Book by its Cover Challenge, which I also participate in. I look forward to Imperial Earth and hope she enjoys this book.

I've had this book for way too long so I'm going to take it on holidays with me, read it and release it while I'm away. So it will return to the USA but not Texas, probably Oregon or California because that's where we'll be spending most of our time. I'll add another journal entry when I get back to say what I thought of the book and where I released it.

We ended up spending our holidays in Super, Natural British Columbia so that is where I read this book and released it.

The description of the story is in BigrTex's first entry so I won't repeat it. I was not too impressed with this book which seemed like a romance tricked out as a mystery to suck in unsuspecting readers like myself. This is the third book of Tami Hoag's that I have read and two out of the three were the romance/mystery type that I find uninteresting. Plus I figured out who the killer was long before the end which always spoils a mystery for me. I hope someone else will find the book more to their liking.

I left this book on a bench beside the Co-op Gas Bar where we were filling up the truck. I put it in a BookCrossing baggie so it would be protected from the elements as it looked like rain.
