The Glass Lake

Kit McMahon lives in the small Irish town of Lough Glass, where everyone knows everyone; children who walk to school together grow up and become sweethearts and marry, people gossip and grumble and dream their lives away. For it is a place where change comes slowly. Until one day, beautiful, mysterious Helen McMahon disappears, presumed drowned in the lake, and then the gossip runs wild. The consequences for Helen's husband, her son, but above all for her daughter, Kit, are unimaginable and will leave not one of their lives unchanged. In the tradition of her beloved novel Circle of Friends, Irish novelist Maeve Binchey offers a wonderful old-fashioned melodrama with a contemporary cast of compelling characters. A sly, seductive, and compulsively readable book, perfect for rainy afternoons and late nights in bed.

due to a cat's bite, i've spent the last 3 days more or less in hospital, and the 3 hr waiting period last night would have been hell with the pain -
but maeve binchy managed to get me so engrossed, that i survived in a quite relaxed fashion...
fantastic book, brought all "my green isle" back to me - very truly observed - only too many happy endings ..(which i think is the main reason for people classifying m binchy as trivial womens writer - whicgh i think is unjust!, she is much better than that!)

Great!
Sorry, tiger-kuh-katze that I didn´t "take over" after the handover in Hannover in January. But Maeve was in a row of books to be read.
Started the book while spending the Easter holidays in my sunny garden - great read for such a time! Thanks again - I will pass it on as well :)
