Found it interesting, if a little strained at times... I don't know how convincing the diary format is. Saying that though, it may well be a true story - probably just too removed from my experiences of teenage-dom (*sigh* pimples galore, embarrassing attempts at asking boys out...) for me to relate to.

I am not sure if it was simply badly written or just did not translate well from Italian...but I had a hard time readig this. It just dragged...and considering the subject matter, it should not have. I guess the book's selling point is that it is a 'true account' and that it involves someone so young. Like you hunnyb, I could not relate to it...well..I might to some extent NOW in my 30's but when I was 16, I was very much a virgin, with glasses and braces on my teeth! :P

Oh, and one thing that make me go "Urgh!" was how she refered to her genitals as her 'wound'! WTF?! Ack!

received - finally! Our post office apparently deduced that because the shopfront below our house closed down, there must be no one living in any of the three apartments upstairs either. I went to the post office and there were four packages there no one had bothered to deliver. But all's well that ends well, thanks!

Okay, so, I'm a fan of the self-indulgent female personality, the kind of girl who will bare herself in an almost exhibitionist way - it's something I almost aspire to as much as I am bothered by the lack of self-criticism, it's very punk, and I envy people who lack self-consciousness to this degree. Other example might be Asia Argento (another Italian one!). And so I probably enjoyed this book more than most people, but it was horrendously written, and I don't know how much of that comes through the translation, but there are huge problems with the whole violent weapon sex metaphor which just got really obvious. I can handle this kind of sex dramatism in small doses (Romance X is one of my favourite movies) but 100 Strokes of the Brush Before Bed was pretty much ruined by it.
