I decided to read this book after several people mentioned it on a message board thread asking people to post books that they found disturbing. This is a story of a world in the future where everyone is equal, there are no choices to be made, no pain, seemingly nothing that can hurt people. One boy, Jonas, is chosen to receive special training from The Giver.

I enjoyed this book although I found the ending to be very dissatisfying. I felt like Lois Lowry kept the reader hanging & I wanted to know more about Jonas' journey. There are two sequels to this book which I also hope to read. This book will be released once I receive the starter kit.
