I needed this book for a graduate course in Philosophy and Ethics in Education. I acquired it online (obviously used) and read through it prior to the start of the course. It is a slow read that required reflection between passages. Dewey has laid out his position in a very logical and obviously well thought out manner. Although I agree with much of what he says, based only on what he says in this book (which is my only experience of him) I disagree with some of his points as well. I attended the first class meeting this past weekend, and managed to have a very enjoyable and lengthy conversation with the professor, who filled me in on some background necessary to fully understand where Dewey was coming from in writing this book. Overall, I found it to be a good read, and I will be rereading it over the next few weeks with course goals in mind.
