THis isn't a "typical" Maeve Binchy novel but it is a very good read. Set in Ireland in the mid 20th Century, it is the story of a small town working class girl and her journey to adulthood. This author has a way of describing the setting so you feel like you are there but without a lot of flowery language. Good book.

Another great book by Maeve Binchy!!! I love the Ireland setting along with the beach/tourist theme. Clare and David are great characters to follow as they grow up and try to breakout of their "stations" in life.
