I hope you enjoy the read. Bill Bryson is great! My favorite is the African Diary he wrote about Kenya.

This book mysteriously appeared in my mailbox the other day. I'm not sure how the sender got my address, but I certainly appreciate the RABCK!

I look forward to reading this book, because I once felt like a stranger in my own home country, upon my return to the US after studying in England during college.

Ah, finally the truth comes out about how this book mysteriously appeared in my mailbox. Thanks, Ri and Cougmax!

This was the first Bill Bryson book I read, and while it wasn't quite what I expected I did enjoy it. I think I was expecting a narrative chronological account, but this book is a collection of newspaper columns Mr. Bryson wrote about his return to America after living 20 years in Britain. I could identify slighty because I studied in England during college and became aware of the different quirks between the two countries. :)

Because this book has relatively short chapters, it would be a great book to read during lunch breaks at work.

Sent off to fsr44 in a trade!

Eh. This was my second attempt at Bryson and I guess I'm ready to say he's not my cup of tea. I found his essays to be mildly amusing, but not all that original. He reminds me of a columnist in my local paper. There's nothing wrong with his writing, I just don't find him as funny as some of my friends do. Still, I was grateful for the opportunity to read this and form my own opinion.
