In my opinion, Minette Walters has never topped her first book, The Ice House, which was absolutely brilliant. The Sculptress, The Dark Room, The Echo and The Breaker were all quite good - superlative crime fiction. The Scold's Bridle seemed to be an anomaly, with distinct patches of tedium, and then The Shape of Snakes signalled the start of a definite slide. Fox Evil was mediocre, and Acid Row was one of the most boring books I have ever read. This one is less bad than Acid Row and Fox Evil, but still not as good as the first few of Walters'. If you really like to read mysteries, then you may get a few hours diversion from this one, but if you demand character development, excitement, etc. be warned, you will not get a lot.

I've read a few Minette Walters' books in the past, and I thoroughly enjoyed them, so I had to pick up this one as well. I will read it and pass it on or trade it, depends on what happens... If someone is interested in reading it, please just PM me and I will move it nearer the top of the pile of TBRs...
