Audrey Hepburn used to say that she never considered herself the right choice to be cast as Holly Golightly in the film version. I am sure many disagree and I have always thought that a terribly modest thing to say until I read the book. I don't think I would be giving anything away if I said that the characters and story in the short story paint a much more darker and upsetting picture than the wonderfully romantic and sensitive film. The extra stories also break your heart into so many little pieces that it can't be healthy......

Caught at New Street Station, Starbucks, whilst running for the 0759 to Hereford. Coincidentally, I had read an article about Bookcrossing in the Times a week or two before, so I was very excited to find my first travelling tome. Accompanied me on trips to Newark, Stoke and around the West Midlands, until being left on the Birmingham-Brighton train last Tuesday.
As for Breakfast, I have not seen the film but read In Cold Blood by the same author at college, and have been meaning to pick this up since then. A bittersweet snapshot clearly written with affection. I didn't think much of the extra stories, but overall a good read.
