Wow! I just finished reading this about 10 minutes ago, and the tears haven't quite dried up yet. Ok, I can see why so many people were so upset about the ending, but really, it was the only way it could have gone - there was no way that this book was ever going to have a happily ever after. I suspect that when the final book comes out, and we are able to look back on the series as a whole, this and the previous book will be looked on as the Empire Strikes Back of the series - the dark and nasty ones that everyone hated at the time, but now consider to be the best and most interesting...

And I was *completely* wrong in my guess as to who the Half-Blood Prince was!
