Matthew Bourne and His Adventures in Motion Pictures

This one's interesting. Matthew Bourne is perhaps best known for his production of the ballet "Swan Lake" - he changed the setting from the classic fairy-tale-castle to the British royal family circa WWII, and - more notably - he had the entire corps of swans danced by men. [The eerie creature on the cover is the stunning Adam Cooper, who helped create the role of The Swan and his counterpart, the wicked Stranger. Note: "Swan Lake" is available on tape and DVD, and I heartily recommend it.] This book consists of a series of interviews with Bourne about his own career and the founding of his dance company, "Adventures in Motion Pictures". It includes production notes about his various works, which include "Cinderella" [set in London during the Blitz] and "Highland Fling" [based on "La Sylphide," but with the sylphs portrayed as - possibly - heroine-induced hallucinations], and shows how his interpretations of classic ballets were developed.

Controlled release: I'm sending this to BCer OlyGrrrL in Washington; hope you enjoy it! [I'm making release notes purely because I love the cover picture of Bourne with Adam Cooper in "Swan" costume; even if it only flickers by on the "last 3" box for a moment or two it'll be worth it!]

Ohhh the beautiful world of ballet! At a quick glance I can already tell how breathtaking of a book this will be. It showcases Bourne's immense creativity and talent from start to finish.
I was estatic to find many mentionings of my fave dancer ~ Anna Pavlova, and not to mention a breathtaking picture of her from what looks like a still shot of "Dying Swan."
Thank you "GoryDetails" for sharing.
BTW: You & your cats make me smile :)
