A passionately argued defence of atheism, which begins with a descrption of a suicide bomber on a bus. Just two weeks ago today, similar events unfolded in London, and naturally the discussion of extreme vs moderate religion has been much in the news since.

Harris regards both as equally permission, since (according to his thesis), moderate religion must by definition tolerate the extremist views which threaten peace and world stability. Try telling that to Tony Blair!

It looks like an intellectually challenging read: I've only read the first two chapters so far because it's been a busy end-of-term week (and I'm alternating it with the latest Harry Potter - an interesting contrast!)
