Anna at Mesa Verde with the Anasazi. And some very nasty folks.

I just reread this book and really enjoyed it. Anna is much more at home in the southwest. The story is peppy, with a good variety of characters, and then there are those ghosts.

I just wrapped this up to send to KBGOFFE as promised.

My regular mail carrier just got back from vacation and discovered that the sub had made a mistake. Our apartment complex has small mailboxes for all of us and then 2 big ones that are used when they can’t cram what we receive in our small box. The sub placed packages for me in one of the large boxes but forgot to give me the key. Today a very apologetic mail carrier left me the key with a nice note. My husband thought my reaction was funny yet typical now that I am a bookcrossing addict. One of the packages was from my mail order prescription company for a med I was starting to wonder about. Once I saw that the other 3 packages were books my meds were thrown aside. Books beat meds any day. :) I am sure you were wondering why it was taking so long for your book to reach me. Media mail is slow but not that slow. I am looking forward to this book. Thanks so much for sending it to me.

I think this is my favorite Anna Pigeon book so far. This book was set in Mesa Verde NP. I really regret that Richard and I did not visit here when we lived in Colorado Springs, CO. Maybe we need to try to visit Mesa Verde next year as it is their Centennial celebration.

Anyway I enjoyed this mystery. I was very intrigued by the storyline. Plus I think I would love to move into the tower house she inherits.

Thanks for sharing this book J-Emily!

This book is heading off to AmberLorien. Thanks for trading books with me. Enjoy this book. I love the way you are transported to whatever National Park Ms. Barr is writing about in the book.

I just finished reading Ill Wind about 10 minutes ago. I was so leary of reading a book set in the southwest. I wasn't sure what to expect but was very pleased with the whole thing. I'm always nervous about trying a new author other than my old favs. I like Nevada Barr's descriptions even when I have no idea what she's talking about (specific landscaping and emergency equipment). Anna Pigeon is a great character. I love that she's got her own flaws like a real human being. The actual climax was rushed - after a couple hundred pages that were slow-paced from event to event - but it all led to a satisfying ending. I may have to mail this on to my friend in NM.
