The first Bill Bryson book I ever read and it was absolutely delightful. It made me want to walk the Appalachian Trail someday.
I read this book on a trip to North Carolina, very near the southern parts of the trail Bryson writes about. The book was informative (strategies to escape black bears and grizzlies are very different---be informed),shocking (the murder rates reported for the trail are a bit skewed), and funny (I can't translate it...you'll have to read it yourself.
Thanks to mepwave for this RABCK. I loved it!

This is the second Bill Bryson book I've read and I'm enjoying it. I picked it up at Gardner's Used Books in Tulsa.
