Journal Entry 1 by CGrauGarriga from Dunsborough, Western Australia Australia on Sunday, July 10, 2005
In 1982 Sally Morgan travelled to her grandmother's birthplace, Corunna Downs Station in Western Australia. What started as a tentative search for information about her forebears turned into an extraordinary emotional and spiritual pilgrimage. Sally and her family were confronted with their own suppressed history, and with fundamental questions about their identity. Through memories and images of growing up in Perth in the fifties and sixties, hints and echoes emerge, hidden knowledge is uncovered, and a fascination story unfolds - the mystery of her Aboriginal identity.
When I read this book -which I loved- in 1996 I had never heard of Perth or read anything about it. Little did I know that five years later I would meet a Perth man, marry him and settle down there.

Handed to meranis in Barcelona. Hope you like it!
Oooohhhh, how nice! I was almost crying at the end of the book. Four lives and four stories, all of them hard, all of them interesting, all of them touching your feelings.
It seems to me, after reading this book, that belonging to "my" race is something much more to be ashamed of that being an "Aboriginal" person. I'm glad Sally Morgan was so stubborn, determined and free of spirit as to record her own experiences as well as her family's, even against everybody else's will.
(Carme, moltes gràcies again, m'ha encantat el llibre. A veure a qui li passo que el pugui gaudir com jo ho he fet. Petons!)

Picked up from the book table at the Convention in London.
This looked like a great book but I had problems fitting it in my luggage! I have released it somewhere that looks like it has a lot of international visitors (and was a safer place than somewhere outside), so hopefully it will get a new reader soon.
