I bought this book used, either in Poughkeepsie NY 15 years ago or in Fairborn Ohio 25 years ago, and finally finished it today.
I always like Walker's writing but I wasn't as invested in the characters in Meridian as I have been in those of Walker's other books. But the bits about the Civil Rights Movement were very interesting, as was Meridian's struggle to find a place in a society that hadn't achieved those rights to her satisfaction.
