This is a fantastic book. I read it when I was younger and all I cared about was content, but in going back through this now that I'm more interested in style I can see that it's very worthwhile in that respect too.

I found the book in the Appalacian Trail Hiker's box. It was an enjoyable, easy read. It gives one a good view of what life was like for women in the late 1800's. And also what life was like in the french New Orleans well-to-do families. How different life was for them, easy in some ways, but boring and restrictive. I did not like the ending though!
