Hysterical story behind this book - well, hysterical for me and my family. RillabeeChime gave me Revolt of the Triffids to tease me and give me a laugh, but I do think I'm going to read the thing! And I noticed RainbowDude Jr. checking it out, too... Of course, that may have been because of its rather sensationalistic cover, lol.

I would like to share this book with others, but we'll all have to be gentle with it - it's quite old - 1951! Well, that's pretty old for a paperback book, but not so old for a human... (sez the bookcrosser born in 1960 ;-)

I do think RillabeeChime should read it after me... :0) Or, better yet, I'll just *tell* her the story. Over and over and over and over....

I read this book quite awhile ago, but I forgot to journal it.

I think what I enjoyed MOST about the book, besides the fact that I was completely surprised by the plot line (NOT!), was the contrast between the lurid cover and the innocent content. The backcover exclaims about the couple's frantic lovemaking, implying that there is going to be some pretty hot stuff going on, but the only section of the book that is even slightly lascivious is when a group of survivors proposes that each man should have more than one wife - must get busy repopulating, you know! The author backs away from that idea pretty quickly though, and the couple's frantic lovemaking never appears in the pages of the book. They do get married and have kids, but there are no details whatsoever. The book reminded me of the twin beds in Lucy and Ricky's room on I Love Lucy. Lucy did get pregnant, somehow, but we can't have the audience reminded of how!

Thanks for the book, R.C. I think.
