Revolutionary Road (Vintage Contemporaries)
1 journaler for this copy...
Wonderfully written study on the birth and disillusionment of American suburbia. Yates is a wordsmith who depicts the unfulfilled lives of a married couple with an uncanny ability to let us feel both compassion and near contempt. Even when he writes about a mentally ill minor character, Yates brings a realness to not only the protagonists’ feelings, but to our own feelings, that is amazingly honest and so raw. Written in the early 1960s, this fascinating book addresses issues still confronting us today.
