I finally got around to reading this. I'd seen the movie, and loved it, so I wanted to compare the two. They left out some parts of the book out of the movie -as I expected. They also consolidated the plot a bit, but all in all I think they did a good job translating. I also felt there some of the things they added to the movie were based more in Japanese culture than the book really is.
But enough about the movie, the book is a quick fun read. As the oldest of three girls, certain parts of it really hit home. I have to agree that when your sisters do well by learning from your mistakes, it makes you feel like it's your job to make mistakes. I also have days where I feel like someone has zapped me and made me 90 years old. Still, none of that matters. This is a solid enjoyable story, so let me know if you want to read it! I'll send it to you!
