This is a really good read and it was hard to put down. I really liked the second half of the story as it reminded me of an HBO show I love; DEADWOOD.

Received in trade from lunabjp for my ABC 2005 Challenge. Can't wait to read it! I'm especially excited since the previous reader compared it to DEADWOOD which I really enjoy.
I've decided to turn this into a bookray once I've finished reading it. PM me if you'd like to join.

Thanks cowgirl-up! I needed the push of a deadline to start reading Allende although I have some of her others and have heard nothing but wonderful things about her writing. I'll journal more when done.
Delightful reading. Wish I had read Allende sooner. Now will have to read her others. The pictures she paints of life in Chile and California are remarkable for their historic acuracy buy woven with tales of the characters as they struggle to deal with their human weaknesses and strengths.
Will send off to the next bookring reader Aramena as soon as receive the address.

Received today! I just started another book ring book, an Anita Blake book, but it's a very quick paperback read, so I'll be to this one pretty soon.
I finished this up over the weekend. The writing captivated me from the first page, and then almost immediately I seemed to be uncaptivated, and so I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. But then at some point, and I'm not even sure when, I got completely caught up and involved and ended up really enjoying the book. Not sure that I'll necessarily seek out Allende's other works, but if I come across one I'll definitely give it a try as well.
This will now be off to Moomin22 either today or tomorrow (depending on whether I have time to get to the post office on my lunch break today)!

Recieved it a few days ago, I'm currently trying to get through Mr. Norrell and Jonathan Strange, so as soon as I finish that one I'll start reading this on. I'll hurry all I can.
I'll mail during the week. I had to give up, it was just not what I wanted to read right now - perhaps I'll get a hold of it some other time and try again - but for now I'll pass it on
It looks like Pilskadde is no longer an active BCer. This one may be a lost cause as I'm guessing it never made it to the mail. :(
