The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
11 journalers for this copy...
Seconds before Earth is demolished to make way for a galactic freeway, Arthur Dent is plucked off the planet by his friend For Prefect, a researcher for the revised edition of The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, who, for the last 15 years, has been posing as an our of work actor.
Together, this dynamic pair begin a journey through scape aided by a galaxyful of fellow travelers: Zaphod Beeblebrox, the two headed, three armed ex hippie and totally out to lunch president of the galaxy; Trillian (formerly Tricia McMillan), Zaphod's girlfriend, who Arthur tried to pick up at a cocktail party once upon a zome time; Marvin, a paranoid, brilliant, and chronically depressed robot; and Veet Voojagig, a former graduate student obsessed with the disappearance of all the ballpoint pens he's bought over the years. :)
My opinion:
Very cute book. I saw the movie and just had to read the book again. I read it a long time ago and by seeing the movie I was reminded of how awesome the book had been. It's very funny to read about these characters and see what they go through. I adore Arthur Dent because he seems to be pretty much the only normal person on board this nutso mission. And I think that Marvin is just the sweetest thing on the planet (which, through finding out through the movie, is only a copy of what truly was before we were slaughtered. ;))

This was a very good book. I loved the humor in it too. It wasn't exactly how I thought it would be, but it was still a great book and very enjoyable :)

I've received the book and it's next on my to read list.
Thanks for setting this up.
Thanks for setting this up.
This was a lot of fun to read, very silly in a good way. I hope you all enjoy it. It went out in the mail to Satnam today.
The "Guide" came in the mail today. I joined bookcrossing in May and have signed up for almost 15 rings or rays, but this is the first one I've gotten!! I'll try not to take too long and get it one it's way. I read this years ago (I think I was in high school). When I saw the movie coming out, I thought I should read it again before I see the movie.
November 25th
Wow!! I never thought it would get to Scotland so quickly!! I was waiting to make a journal entry, because I was feeling bad that I had shipped it Surface Mail, which they said could take months. This is the second time I have shipped a book surface to the UK and it has only taken a week. I mailed this on the 16th. The first time the post office told me that someone must have put it in the wrong box and it went airmail.
I was a little disappointed reading the Hitchhiker this time. I read it as a teenager and loved it. I think I had remembered it as being so funny that it couldn't live up to the memory. Also, I think because of things going on in my life right now, I wasn't really in the mood for that kind of humor. A weird thing happened though. The day after I received the Hitchhiker, I received another bookring called The Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. This was great by the way, but here's the weird thing. These books are very, very different and each is pretty unique, yet both of them mentioned many of the same things. This will sound stupid probably , but maybe someone who has read both would understand. Both mentioned things like prime numbers, exponents, stars, spaceships, aliens, monkeys, and more things I can't remember. It was a little freaky reading them a day apart.
Sorry my entry wasn't made at the proper time. Thanks for doing the ring!!

Not my favorite style, I will pass it directly to another person.
I got the book by accident. There was an unclear adress on the parcel and I did not recognize the name. Via the website I figured out where I should send the book. It turned out that the person lived in my lane. She has just moved in, so I did
not knwow her name. Anyway, the book is at the right place now. Wish you a lot of fun with your book crossing

Well, the book arrived here eventually....
Although I am absolutely no Science Fiction fan, I had a great time reading the Hitchhiker's Guide. It sure is a hilarious story. It made me laugh out loud. Sometimes I felt totally-out-to-lunch, but luckily I do know where my towel is! I was also surprised to find out that this is where Radiohead's album OK Computer and its track Paranoid Android were named after!
I have already pm'd QueenSissi, but she asked to be skipped. As soon as avonlode pm's me her/his address I will send the book to Finland.

Well, this book got kinda caught in a time warp in Finland. Thank you for bearing with me. Very inspiring and funny story, keeps you entertained. Going next to Oz, happy reading :-)
Received today (1 of 3 bookrings! And 2 of them from Finland!) Thanks all.
Great fun. Just so imaginative and bizarre that it's laugh out loud funny. My favourite line: ""Ford," [Arthur] said, "you're turning into a penguin. Stop it."" :)
Sending off to bubbleseed - enjoy!!

I can not believe that I have only received this parcel now... it came to me over a year on, been sitting at Aust Post LOST!
Guys and Girls, I am going to shop this straight on just as soon as I get the address from amambaw...
Sorry to hold up the chain, but Aust Post had no reasons to give me as to why the delay! It's a small miricle I think that I ever got it!

Sorry for the hold up!
This book arrived while I was out-of-town. I probably won't be able to start it for a couple of weeks. I look forward to reading it. Thanks for sharing, sunshinedreamr!
I found this book somewhat amusing, and there were parts during which I laughed out loud. I am glad I read it (I never had before) and am interested enough to read the other books in the series. Thanks for sharing this book with us, sunshinedreamr!
Today I mailed this book back to sunshinedreamr in Connecticut.
The Guide returned home to me today! Thanks to everyone for participating and for all your great reviews, I hope you guys enjoyed it :)
