I'm not sure if being Canadian makes me enjoy reading about "The Immigrant Experience", but I've always sought novels that are about newcomers to either Canada or the US. Yezierska is a previously forgotten novelist/writer, and this is the only book of hers still in print. The introduction was a good way to get excited about reading the book, so don't skip it ;)
Forgot to add that I bought the book at Frenchy's, and it wasn't me who wrote in purple felt in the margins. Must have been a required-reading text at some point!
