I read this even though it was an Oprah book! (I find that most of the Oprah books are depressing, though meaning-filled.)
Gripping story of a midwife and a home birth gone awry. The book is written from the point of view of her teen daughter, Connie. Wonderfully paced, the story unfolds in different blocks of time, giving Connie's story time to develop, and ending in a gut-wrenching punch.
