The popular sequel to Angela's Ashes. I'm halfway through this one so far, and am quite enjoying it. I picked it up at an antique and second hand shop in a small town on the way to Peterborough. I'm enjoying finding out what happened to Frankie after the events of the last book, which ended off as he arrived in New York to make a new life after a childhood of poverty and misery in Ireland.

Finally got around to this one - read it while travelling. It didn't quite live up to Angela's Ashes for me, but it was definitely more upbeat and an enjoyable read. It was nice to continue the story and find out what happened in the New World. Frank McCourt is certainly a skilled writer and it was neat to read about New York from his perspective.

Mailed yesterday to Bluestocking88, who won it in my RABCK draw. It was mailed surface, so it may take a while. Enjoy!

This just arrived moments ago. Thank you so much. I have a few rings and Harry Potter to finish before I get to it, but I finished Angela's Ashes a few weeks ago and am looking forward to reading the rest of the story.

Thanks again, I'll be sure to move it along when I am finished with it.

I enjoyed this book very much, and it's taken me a few weeks to get through it as his writing was very rich and dense. Not a book to skim through. I admit at points it suffered in comparison to Angela's Ashes, but I think his poverty and life in Ireland was just so fascinating. How can surviving in Limerick compare to his cold water apartment?

'Tis was excellent though, I wonder if he was a better teacher than he let on in the story--to read how he describes his teaching style I was surprised he kept getting promoted. I will keep my eyes out for a copy of Teacher Man his 2005 sequel to these other novels that focuses more on his time in the classroom.

I have a couple bookboxes heading my way in the near future, I will be saving this book for one of them and pass it along that way.

Thanks again for the RABCK Newf. It has been very entertaining to spend time with Mr. McCourt and his story.

This is going out in my Movers and Shakers Bookbox.

I read this book a few years ago, immediately after reading Angela's Ashes. I thought it wasn't as good as Angela's Ashes, but still quite an interesting read.

Since it travelled full circle in the Movers and Shakers bookbox, I'm pulling it out rather than returning it to bluestocking88.

I'll find a good home for it shortly.
