This book was sent to me via candieb, who requested that I register it to continue dicentragirl's bookring, which has appherently been lost in the mail somewhere between Pa. and Fl.

No frets ~ I will read this promptly, as I am just near the end of my current read, and am anxious to begin this! I will journal again once I'm through, and continue it on it's journey!

I absolutely LOVED this book! Maguire's lyrical writing and subtle humor made this a delightful read from cover to cover.

A truly imaginative and wonderfully plotted tale, I have embraced Elphaba in a new and unexpected way (I was never a big fan of Dorothy and her little dog, anyway). Absolutely fabulous, unique and completely engaging; a true test of your ideas regarding good & evil - nature & nurture - God and Free Will ...one I'm sure will be considered a 'classic'.

Now, I *must* read Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister...and, I certainly hope Mr. Maguire continues his myth-making in future stories.

And, since stellertony requested to be bumped down the list, this book will now make its way to Sidney1220 in Va, who is next on the list...

I hope the subsequent readers enjoy this one as much as I did! * mailed 6/22

Wow... just finished this one. This is a HEAVY book, and I don't mean weight :) I really did enjoy it, but felt it was "wordy" (okay, I KNOW it's a book and it's supposed to have words, but I sometimes felt the author got carried away). For instance, I think too much time was spent in the middle section. It really dragged horribly for me. However, it was really good and a good take on the Oz we all know and love. I can't wait to read Son of the Witch, which I believe comes out soon, if it's not already.

My husband saw I had this book and has brandished it to read since I finished it so early. He should be done within a week or so and then we will pass it on to the next person!

It's here! My daughter (13) was totally excited to see it since she saw the musical this summer - she may get it read before I do. Looks interesting.

Loved this book, although I found Elphaba's story very sad. It'll be on its way soon to Apolonia.

Sorry for the delay on this one I am starting it right now. Hopefully I will have it done within a few days.

Journal Entry 13 by Apolonia from Lynn, Massachusetts USA on Wednesday, December 7, 2005
I've had this a little over a month now. I started it a few days ago and thought I could get through it pretty quickly since normally I am a fast reader. I just can't get into it though. I made it to page 107, and I'm sure I could force myself through it, but that would take a few more weeks. Since I'm not really that into it I figured I would just send it out to Dospescasos today rather than hold up the ring any longer. I may pick up another copy again someday since I hate not finishing a book I started, plus I like the idea of it. I just don't think I like the writer's style. I hope the rest of the participants enjoy it, and of course thanks for starting the ring Dicentragirl.

Journal Entry 14 by Apolonia from Lynn, Massachusetts USA on Thursday, December 8, 2005
Dospescados has asked to be skipped, she received a copy elsewhere. I will be sending to Stellertony today.

Should have written this quite a few months ago. Whoops...

I really enjoyed this book. It's very well-developed and just goes to show that there are multiple sides to every story.

I'm going to be sending this on to one of the 158(!!!) people on Paperbackswap who want to read this. I'll ask them to journal it, and keep my fingers crossed.

Journal Entry 18 by mystbnards from Charlotte, North Carolina USA on Friday, April 21, 2006
