Synopsis
The latest Inspector Banks paperback is set to follow the success of the hardback, taking Peter Robinson into the best-seller list Number 35 The Hill is an ordinary house in an ordinary street. But it is about to become infamous. When two police constables are sent to the house following a report of a domestic disturbance, they stumble upon a truly horrific scene. A scene which leaves one of them dead and the other fighting for her life and career. The identity of a serial killer, the Chameleon, has finally been revealed. But his capture is only the beginning of a shocking investigation that will test Inspector Alan Banks to the absolute limit.

I'm sorry I didn't journal this before, but it's been in the bedroom as I read it on the day after the meet!

It's a real page turner, although some of the details of the crimes committed are graphic and grisly so it's not for those easily disturbed by details of child sexual and physical abuse.

The characterisation was good, the plot (mostly) believable, plus there were cleverly worked details of real life cases to give a sense of time and context.

It reminded me - in a good way - of Ian Rankin, who I really rate as a crime writer, so I will be looking for more of this guy's books on my charity shop trawls.

Urban Hermit has just finished this and although he didn't enjoy it as much as I did will probably read more of this author. Will release at next meet I get to.
