The Dante Club : A Novel
3 journalers for this copy...
I bought this book because I like historical thrillers. For some reason or other, I started it about five times but never got very far. The setting, the characters etc. all seemed interesting but my mind kept drifting and I had to return to the beginning, more than once or twice. In the end I decided to give someone else a go. Literary Boston in 1860s sounds like a delightful setting for a murder mystery, so I am looking forward to hearing from someone else how it all turned out.

Journal Entry 4 by woosang from Campbelltown, New South Wales Australia on Thursday, January 12, 2006
OK but page 50 I was ready to toss the book. It was slow and ponderous and just plain boring. BUT from page 60 or so onwards, it got better and proceeded to improved right to the exciting end. My advice with this book it keep going. Get past the beginning, and make the effort.
I was familiar with Dante's work so found this interpretation quite good.

I have just moved to Melbourne, and I think this book has been left in some boxes of books at my sister's place in Sydney. I shall collect them in February 2008, and read this book straight away!
