Mad Girls in Love

I had the same problems and enjoyment of this book as I did with Robert Harling's play, Steel Magnolias -- I couldn't decide if it was using the whacky, hyper-feminine stereotypes of Southern women to really make a point about the unsung strength of Southern ladies or whether it was just insipid and inane. Either way, it has a few funny moments and many that are so overdone, they cease to be funny because the author was clearly trying too hard for the laughs.
