An account of life in a small English village, as seen through the eyes of a young woman, of the arrival of the plague. The villagers, led by their charismatic Rector take the decision to cut themselves off from the outside world.Their lives are dramatically changed in ways that they could not have predicted.
I haven't started it yet but have read Nine Parts of Desire, another book by the same author and thought it was fantastic so was rapt when I found this book. I'll keep you posted.

I received this book from a friend who found it in Brunswick. She knew that the subject of the book was of great interest to me. The book was easy to read and quite interesting. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of depth. Overall I would call it a good light book. I have read Foreign Correspondance;A Pen Pals Journey from DownUnder to All Over also by Geraldine Brooks and enjoyed it far more than this book. I intend to release this book back to the person who gave it to me who will read it and release again.
