I found this to be thoroughly enjoyable read. It was interesting as a portrayal of the changing face of Hong Kong over 70 years as well as becoming a gripping survival thriller half way through. Completely different to "The Debt to Pleasure" and almost as good.

I really liked this book. Nearly read it in one sitting (might of helped that I was in travelling alone... mealtimes can be lonesome without a good book). I love books with intertwined histories of people and locations. Wonderful book, would highly recommend it.

Wow, has it been 4 yrs already?
Took this book from Lef coz it looked like an interesting read. Lend it to a friend first, who said she really enjoyed it! Took a while ( :-) ) to get to reading it, but finally...
Excellent read. Quite gripping, interesting characters, and such a well documented historical story! Learned a lot whilst being caught in the interesting life of it's main character(s).
Thanks so much for sharing!
