This book came highly recommended from a friend who grew up not far from where Russert did.
Paperback edition. This book was a pleasure to read. It's essentially an autobiography of the famous NBC newsman told with an emphasis upon his relationship with his father (the early section of the book discusses his father's earlier phases of life. Russert does a fine job of not only telling a warm and honest story, but of crreating good pictures of what scenes he is describing were like, for both him and his father. Russert clearly feels fortunate to have learned the traditional values his father, teachers, mentors and priests taught him. One thing about the book that struck me as odd is how little there is about his wife in it, or about how she relates to "Big Russ". There is a great deal, however, about Russert's son Luke in the book.
I mailed this to Virginia today from Hinckley, Maine.
