The first, I think, in the series of 3 novels set in an imaginary South American country. The author brings humour to the problems many Latin American countries have with corruption and revolutionaries. Also, the novel gradually takes on some surreal characteristics as it progresses.
A lot happening in these novels - too much to summarise here - but well worth the read.

My husband, Buddy picked up the book at a bus stop in Courtenay Place, Wellington this week. He's started reading it, but won't ask him what he thinks of it so far, as he's cooking dinner.
Buddy was surprised when I told him that I'd read about bookcrossing. I think it's a brilliant idea and has prompted me to join.
