back on the shelf may 2013
Plucked off the ABZ OBCZ bookshelf on the eve of Saturday the 27th July, 2013, as I know a reader I hope will be interested in this modern classic. Tempted to read before posting however I want to focus on the books I have specifically chosen for my own to-be-read piles so I have taken the tough decision to behave and pass this straight on. Popped into the post today for an unofficial (it’s all in the name) MrFlutterbies9. Please enjoy this RABCK, cheers from rainbow3

Received today with thanks to rainbow3. Mr Flutterbies9 says 'this looks interesting' but will currently go on tbr as he is reading three at present ~ at least one of which he wishes to finish before starting another one!
Thanks.
Thanks.
Mr Flutterbies9 read this and said that he thought it was a little too noir for his liking. He thought I may like to give it a try for something different.
So I tried, but sorry this one just did not catch me I'm afraid. I found the intensity of the writing made for high tension but the violence was just too much for my liking. rainbow3 said she thought it seemed dark and ironic with a sprinkling of dark and scary lurking in the shadows. I would have to agree.
In fact, this is one of the very few books that I did not finish. I'll check the wishlist and see if anyone has a wish for it.

Time for this one to leave here too. Perhaps someone else will give this some love.
Guiltily, into the World of Crime bookbox (being American, this should not be here but was because I could not find another that was the weight required to fit. Sorry).
Happy travels little book.

Journal Entry 12 by Plum-crazy at Brighouse, West Yorkshire United Kingdom on Thursday, April 5, 2018
Received when my "World of Crime" Book box came home.
This is the first book I've read by Elmore Leonard although I was aware of his work. The cover of the book seemed very 1970's to me so I was surprised to see it had been written 1985. It wasn't as blatantly un-PC as some novels I've read of this period, & while obviously there was no reference to social media/technology/internet etc it didn't strike me as particularly dated.
I liked the storyline & liked the characters, though sometimes the dialogue or descriptions seemed a bit abrupt. However this short choppy style helped evoke the gritty ambience of the world the characters were moving in. I enjoyed it & won't hesitate to read more of Leonard's work if happen across them.
