Saw the movie with Natasha Richardson and was intrigued by it. Am planning to read this book while traveling and will release it then.

This book was a captivating page-turner with a disappointing ending. Offred is a compelling character whose story is told vividly by Atwood. She should have been allowed to tell her story through to the end. The last chapter was a little contrived, like the concept of the Underground Femaleroad. Come on now, you can come up with something more creative than that. Overall, the concepts and themes of the book should make for an interesting Book Club discussion.

So my first attempt at a bookray didn't go anywhere after 4 weeks. Here's my second try, with a more mainstream book that might show up more frequently on book searches. Again, here's what I know:

1) You sign up by PM-ing me.
2) I put you and other interested parties on a list.
3) I send it to the first person on the list.
4) That person journals that s/he has received the book, so the folks on the bookray know where it is at any given time.
5) After reading the book, s/he journals again to record comments and musings about the book.
6) The next person on the list, meanwhile, PM's the current reader with her/his address.
7) The current reader sends it to the next person on the list.
6) Repeat as many times as there are people on the list EXCEPT for the last person.
9) The very last person on the list releases the book into the wild.
10) The book lives happily ever after.

I'll start the bookray after I get 3 interested parties. This time, I'll wait 6 weeks for responses. Ready? Set? GO!!!!
