Thanks for sending. This is one of those books/movies that have many pop-culture references that I don't always "get," so I decided I'd better read it!

Oh, this one is terrible!!
Beautifully written, evocative, powerful, terrifying.
I pulled this off the shelf because we ended up with the movie and were going to watch it this weekend. I thought I'd like to read the book first, to compare them. Now I'm not so sure I want to watch the movie...
I can certainly see why this book received so much acclaim, and also why it's on the Banned Books list.
Strangely, I've fallen into a bit of a theme with the last few books I've read. First, I had a ring arrive for The Book Thief (Nazi Germany) then this, and now the book I picked up last night, I thought at random, The Witch of Blackbird Pond looks like it'll involve a witch-hunt. I think I'm about due for a book focusing on the Positive, Loving, Kind side of the human psyche!
*shiver*
Poor Simon, poor Piggy.

A note on the movie...it sucked. Big time. It was so cheesy and dumb that I'm glad I read the book FIRST. If I'd seen the movie first, I wouldn't have bothered with the book. Good thing I did it in the right order :)

This book is now going in a box to the Salvation Army. Hopefully, some new reader will find, enjoy, and journal it.
