I liked this book enourmously, one of the best read this year so far. I had never given a lot of thought to autism, but this book made me think - and learn - a lot about it. What brave people they have to be, as well as their close relatives. How stupid we can be when dealing with such people, just by pure ignorance. And what a potential they can have, if only we knew how to take advantage of it! Thanks, Marcenda - and follygirl - for this excelent read! I sent Drowner a PM and the book will travel to him/her, as soon as I get the address.

Sent this morning to Drowner. And since I'm here, just a small note to say that in the meanwhile, it was read by Pequeteco, who also loved it.

Just got it, thanks Drowner and Marcenda, I'll get to it as soon as possible, it shouldn't take long.

I'll try and keep this short.
The "incident" is in fact curious and it has a dog and the main character loves Sherlock Holmes. I don't want to give out the plot here.
It's a beautiful investigation and the special kid that does it has such a way with words and feelings...it's amazing.
The humor in this book is all over, but it's very serious stuff.
Once I picked up the book I just had to read it and not stop or pause or anything, except sleep.
I'll be mailing it on tomorrow.

With me now, thank you!

What a wonderful book. I’ve loved it period.
Sometimes I found myself reading books, even good ones that despite one or another difference are pretty much the same: the same ideas, the same language, the same rules, etc. and so on. But not this one, this one is completely different, made me see some things with a complete new perspective.

Thanks a lot for this one Marcenda!

En route to BettyBoekwurm

Journal Entry 20 by BettyBoekwurm from Porto - City, Porto Portugal on Wednesday, May 9, 2007
Received!

I had a look through it and started reading the first few pages, but I had to stop immediately because I could tell that it's one of "those books". You know, the kind that sucks you into it and turns time and real life into something very, very distant...

Thanks for sharing!

Journal Entry 21 by BettyBoekwurm from Porto - City, Porto Portugal on Monday, May 21, 2007
I've aways loved alternative narratives. Stories told in a different perspective. But sometimes authors get so lost trying to write in a different voice, that they forget about the story and its characters. But sometimes, you find little pearls, and this is certainly one of those cases.

Being inside Christopher's head and trying to see things through his eyes brings the world into an entirely different perspective and makes for a lovely lesson on how and what the world is and can be.

Thank you for sharing this lovely book. I'll be sending it back home to Marcenda this week!

This book is one of my favourites! I read the Italian translation of this book a couple of years ago, so I have just gone through some pages of this edition just to compare the original with the translation.
Now the book is going back to Canada, someone requested it from me through bookmooch.

I am not familiar with BookSmooch...please keep us updated on the book's travels. :)
