I'm far too fuzzy brained to write ANY kind of a sensible review of this, so will leave it with saying it was far from my favourite DWJ. Anyone who has read reviews on my rings/rays of some other books of hers will know how big a fan I am, so not being much impressed with this one at all should be taken in that context. The building stuff was great though! Registering to send to Katayoun.

told you!! :) it was quite enjoyable, first because a week ago i didn't know that i would have a chance to read this quite so soon and then because it's dwj and so it's enjoyable :)
about the book, well maybe hero's right and it's not quite dwj standard, i guessed alot of it from the time conrad meets christopher and that's strange, i usually am quite surprised by most her books, and you could see the ending (even if you didn't guess anything, it was there most of it, that is you know how she would end it, usually even if i know something about her books i don't know how she's going to pull it off till the last minute!) and also maybe her characters were not as well drawn as before, you did't get to know them, even conrad, they felt like.. well like tools to tell the tale! probably amos' doing :) and i must say that i really, really, didn't like the last chapter, she could've explained some stuff and left the rest but then that's me!
still over all, i read it in 2 days and enjoyed it alot, even a medium dwj is very good, (oooh it's a pity there were so many lovely things there, like the travellers and all those possibilities ... maybe the next story is going to be about travellers!).
it had all the lovely imagination and very strange ideas and possibilities that dwj can think of, and it was fun (you don't feel depressed AT ALL :)) and it also was written in her usual style of "you are going to read a page and you suddenly see you've read 2 chapters and the food is all burned!"
so all in all a good book, a very good book, maybe just not a great diana wynne jones.
thanks hero ever so much for this chance.
