Journal Entry 1 by Starry-Starry from Llandrindod Wells, Wales United Kingdom on Saturday, April 30, 2005
This is another fab book from Jasper Fforde featuring the adventures of Thursday Next. Thursday is happily ensconsed in the book Caversham Heights as part of the characters exchange programme. Jumping around from book to book she learns more and more about the BookWorld and its inhabitants. Apprenticed to Miss Havisham she completes her Jurisfiction training but life is not as relaxing as she might have wished. Aoris is hell-bent on getting revenge for her brother's death, Text-Grand Central are introducing a new operating system called Ultraword and most worryingly of all Jurisfiction agents are being attacked.

Although I didn't think this one is quite as good as The Eyre Affair, I still loved it - the little in-jokes and puns, the way Fforde plays with the narrative - the Vyrus is so funny and footnoterphones. This is a very entertaining book and I suspect I will re-read it often.

Part of my PC

This arrived today - I'm really looking forward to reading it, but will start with The Eyre Affair and Lost in a good book (which I luckily have!). Thank you Starry!

Stolen from the bookshelf of bigcurlyloz, I read the next in the series before she did! i found it thoroughly enjoyable, and a fitting continuation of the adventures of Thursday Next in the land of fiction. I found Aornis particularly disturbing, though she had little power in the end.

book returns to bigcurlyloz for her reading enjoyment

I didn't enjoy this as much as the previous two Thursday Next books. I loved finding out more about the Thursday Next "universe", old and new aspects alike: Jurisfiction, The Well of Lost Plots, the Vyrus, grammasites, footnoterphones etc, but the actual plot wasn't as engaging as I was expecting. Neverthless, still incredibly inventive, with lots of literary "in-jokes" and I look forward to reading Something Rotten.
