7 journalers for this copy...
I read this with a book group last year, and I can honestly say it is one of the best books I have ever read in my life! Found this copy at the Library Bookstore and bought it just to release. Something this good has to be shared!

I've just received this in today's mail, and I'll get right into it tonight.
Well, I spent the last several weeks being overwhelmed by real life, having moved unexpectedly into a new house and then leaving town for a couple of weeks to deal with a family event. In the meantime, I did find some time to devote to this fantastic book, and I really enjoyed it immensely. My favorite quote was this from Owen:
THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN GET AMERICANS TO NOTICE ANYTHING IS TO TAX THEM OR DRAFT THEM OR KILL THEM, Owen said.
I sent this book on Friday to Luintarien, with best wishes for a great read.

Caught it today. Thank you. Will read and pass on ASAP.
Can't seem to get into it so am passing it on. Sorry for the length of time I have had it.

RELEASE NOTES:
Just received this in the mail today. I need to finish the book I'm currently reading then one more bookring book that arrived before this one. I'm going to get busy reading so hopefully won't have this too long. I've been wanting to read it since I read Cider House Rules.
Loved this book. Thanks so much for waiting on me to finsih up. Took me awhile to get read but well worth it. Irving makes every detail worth reading! Thanks for sharing. Will be on it's way this next week either to cantreadenuff or back to OneMorePage if I don't hear from the first in a couple of more days.
Arrived today...in this wonderful season where the mail becomes fun again! Will journal again soon.
This is definitely a candidate for my top ten list (though I suspect I have more than ten candidates). It was a little hard to get into, but the comical Chapter 4 hooked me--I stuck with it because it was so highly recommended. The guy across the aisle on a recent flight had just received the book as a gift and I encouraged him to stick with it. He had asked me if this was made into a movie, and I didn't think so, but I found this on Wikipedia (copied here because linking would spoil the story...)
"The 1998 feature-length film Simon Birch, directed by Mark Steven Johnson, was loosely based on the novel. The film starred Ian Michael Smith, Joseph Mazzello, Ashley Judd, Oliver Platt and Jim Carrey. It omitted much of the latter half of the novel and altered the ending. The movie does not share the book's title at Irving's request; he did not believe that this novel could successfully be made into a film."
I've not seen the movie, but I'd have to agree. Maybe I'll try to rent it and see for myself. Off to loveamystery today--enjoy!!

Returned from holiday and this book was here waiting for me. Thanks cantreadenuff for sending it. Looking forward to reading it.

What a wonderful book! When I was about a third into the book, I was having second thoughts about whether I would continue reading it. And then after that, I could barely put it down. It is so well written and has such a powerful affect on the reader. It really has the feel of a Canadian novel, very like Robertson Davies. I highly recommend it.

OneMorePage has requested that I hold on to this for a few days while she offers it up again as a bookring. It's worth reading!
