The Mermaid Chair: A Novel

Picked this up in FL., just could not pass it up. It sounds wonderful.
With much thanks to Beloved49 for sharing this book with me. Will journal again when I finish reading it. Thanks so much for the BC bookstring, too! I have never seen this one before and it's so pretty! I will enjoy using it; thanks again, Beloved49.
Both my mom (who is visiting from India) and I read this book this week and we feel quite differently about it. My mom, who is rather old-fashioned, thought that some of the themes in the book were way out and that the characters were shallow and superficial, whereas I thought the author did well by tackling suicide, abandonment, betrayal, infidelity, guilt etc., all in the same book. It's a rather unusual story with a lot of mysticism and symbolism and while it may not be as gripping as her previous novel, "Secret Life of Bees", it is a fairly pleasant read. Thanks to Beloved49 for the trade.
Going across the pond to bookcrosser, almond1966, in the UK.
Thanks to Lotusflower77. It finally arrived (unlike my baby - yet!)
Not my normal genre, but an enjoyable read while breastfeeding in the small hours!
Thank you almond1966. I received the books this morning.
I wasn't expecting to like this book as much as The Secret Life of Bees, But I think it was even better!
Thanks to almond1966 for the trade. I really enjoyed this book.
(I now have secret plans for this book.)
It will be on a journey soon.
