The characters (the Shaftoes, the Waterhouses, Enoch Root) are wonderfully rendered and the parrallel plot lines of the 1940's and 1990's work well.
It provides a fairly gentle introduction to the black arts of cryptograpghy and code cracking with a bit of mathematics thrown in for good measure.
Parts of the plot are based around where I live and the shadow of Douglas McArthur still looms large in this town.
A slight departure from Stephenson's other works, this book has become my all time favourite. I must have read this thing 10 times and now it is time for it to be free. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

I caught this wonderful book from a very special friend of mine. I love reading this book as it has the same wonderful sense of humour as Damian. The more I read it, the more I love this book.
I will be taking this book on my travels and will be releasing it overseas in the US. We hope to be able to track it's new life as a 'wild' book and see other people enjoy it as we did.

Wow! How can I pass up a book with raves like these? I saw it was released a day or two ago and stopped by Dietrich today on my way home. If it turns out not to be my cup of tea, I'll send it on to a new home soon.

RELEASE NOTES:
I guess I was expecting some kind of science fiction book, but this is not my kind of book at all. I think I'll try it out in the OBCZ at the school. It would make a great summer read for someone. If no one picks it up by the last day of school, I'll take it back to Dietrich's.
