Isaac Asimov wrote and/or edited nearly 500 books in his lifetime. He is mostly remembered as a science fiction author, even though most of his output was outside of that genre.
Within science fiction, he wrote three series of books: the Empire books, the Foundation series and the robot stories.
He wrote a few dozen shorts about the robots, and their creator, Susan Calvin. There were also two novels: The Caves of Steel and the Naked Sun. These paired a human detective with a robot partner.
At one point Asimov stopped writing SF altogether. Fans cried.
In 1980, after he had returned to SF, I saw him at the WorldCon in Boston. I had three books with me: the first two volumes of his autobiography, and a book belonging to my college buddy, George Turner. That volume was a two-in-one of the two robot novels. I asked George if he had a message I could pass on to Dr. A. George had but one word: "More!".
A few months later this book came out. and my friend had his wish.
