Stormy Weather
4 journalers for this copy...
Florida, the night before a great hurricane hits the land. Max and Bonnie Lamb are on their honeymoon, but soon the storm is Max's only interest. While he hurries after the storm, Bonnie askes herself what kind of man she married.
That's the beginning of this book about Florida, a Florida very different from the travel brochures, the Florida of Carl Hiaasen ;-)

My Hiaasen baptism! Thanks Kat, this looks perfect (and thanks for the choccies, too).
I love your little card! Did you do that? And that's what I call a label - very clear and informative.

A collection of disparate characters, dangling on separate threads, somehow all get drawn together from their various parts of the US towards Islamorada, where the knots are sorted out in a most satisfactory way. Some of the references to medications and food products were lost on me, but I enjoyed it all the same. Great stuff.
Sending this to another bookcrosser in the States, as part of cartref's Pass the Parcel scheme. Posted today, June 13, 2005.
Rec'd from silentmiaouw as part of Cartref's "pass the book" relay.
I can almost see the movie with Danny DeVito running around Florida. This takes place just after a major hurricane has swept through leaving death and destruction behind. As usual, this brings the sharks to the forefront with plenty of ideas about how to get rich off other people's misfortunes.
It's a bit of a black comedy. There's plenty of pain and suffering but lots of humor too.
