read this a long time ago when it was recommended as a book that should be in the modern library.
I really enjoyed it although the plot is based on a very simple premise. I have read other books by Martin Amis and really not enjoyed them half as much.

Thank you sooooo much Jenatleisure :o) A funny thing happened a couple of days ago.....i came across a copy in the boxes of books that Kleptokitty gave me! lol.....just like buses, more than 1 comes along at the same time. Will add this to the ever increasing Mount Toobie and get to it as soon as i can ;o)
Retreived from storage, where its been since November 2005!!!! Ive had this book for far too long, so i apologise..... I will have a look to see if its on anyones wish list, and if not, i'll wild release it soon :o)

I read this a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed Amis's engaging prose style. I prefer his _Experience_ but this is well worth a read.
