This is the 4th book in the Thursday Next series.
Thursday returns to Swindon with her son and Hamlet. Now she has to find a Shakespeare clone, get her husband back and make sure the Swindon Mallets win the Superhoop final...

I loved all the Thursday Next books. They are so full of ideas which makes them fun to read. I liked how some events in this book connected to some in the first book.
If you haven't read the first three installments yet, I recommend you read them before this one.

I just discovered I had another copy of this book and I'm going to turn it into a bookray.

"Something Rotten" arrived today - Thursday's car on the cover is a real eyesore! Now I'll drop everything else and read this. Thanks for the book!

Witty like the other Thursday Next books! I like Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle and The Cat Formerly Known as Cheshire. And Granny Next is terrific!
Thanks a lot for the book ring - and now the book will wait for Sheepseeker who is on holiday.

Sheepseeker is back home, and the book will depart now.

Got the book today, thanks for sending!
This may take a while since quite a number of books turned up here when I got back from my holidays... :)

A brilliant read!
I was really disappointed with part 3 of the Thursday Next-series but this one fully made up for it.
It had great new characters and - being a fan of Hamlet - enjoyed the overall theme. I'm not going into details since - unless jellycat wants me to do otherwise - I'm going to keep this Ray running if possible :)

Thanks for sharing the book, jellycat!

Pit stop for Thursday - just arrived safe and sound. Perfect timing, as I am about to finish Vol. 3 today. Thanks so much for sharing, sheepseeker!

I have to admit that I wasn't too enthusiastic about the first Thursday Next novel, however, I am definitely hooked since the 2nd volume. This fourth novel was again a page-turner; witty, full of puns, allusive, exciting - where for heaven's sake does Fforde get all these crazy ideas from?! Thanks for this entertaining read!

The book will now be moving on to SaschaBWk; jirika was busy and I received her PM only today. Sorry for skipping, jirika!

The book arrived, while I was on holiday. It has to wait now some days before I start reading it, there is one other book I have to finish.

29.09.2006: Really hilarious! I felt a tiny bit let down by 'The well of Lost Plots' but with 'Something Rotten' Fforde is back to form. Loveable people and Dodos (I'm not sure if Alan is ment to be loved but i love him regardless), strange things happening all around, comedy, drama and tragedy in a great mix, I miss almost nothing. Only this: more of it.

Journal Entry 14 by Zartbitter from Mohrkirch, Schleswig-Holstein Germany on Sunday, October 15, 2006
Got it yesterday. Thanks for sending!
I've already started reading it and it seems to be a lot better then "the well of lost plots".

Journal Entry 15 by Zartbitter from Mohrkirch, Schleswig-Holstein Germany on Saturday, October 21, 2006
This was really awesome! Thanks for sharing the book!
But I'm disappointed with one issue: The end is too much of a happy end. Is this really the last episode of the Thursday Next series?

... on its way to Komma ...

Journal Entry 16 by Komma from Würzburg, Bayern Germany on Thursday, October 26, 2006
Thank you for sending this book, I will it read soon.

Journal Entry 17 by Komma from Würzburg, Bayern Germany on Thursday, November 30, 2006
What a story! Jasper Fforde create fiction as it´s best. I like Hamlet, pardon, cousin Eddie from Wolverhampton. I learn that Neanderthals don´t have any sense to win or loose a game and I learn what St. Zvlkx have to do with the Toast Marketing Board. And by the way, what sort of cake is this Battenberg one?
The next participant is soleille, I send this bookring to her.

Journal Entry 18 by soleille from Leipzig, Sachsen Germany on Friday, December 15, 2006
Another Fforde, yay! I'm already halfway through and greatly enjoying it....thanks for this ray!

Journal Entry 19 by soleille from Leipzig, Sachsen Germany on Saturday, January 27, 2007
Fforde rocks!!! I loved loved loved this book and laughed myself silly.
The characters are quite something (and I really loved what we learn about Granny Next!!!) and the main story is so hilarious only Fforde can do it without being ridiculous.
I love all the little things you come across in the Next novels (don't want to give too much away, find out for yourselves!)- my favourite in this book must be Eradications Anonymous and their meetings!
Hope I'll find some more readers for this ray to continue!
