Fasinating account of the Chicago World's Fair of 1895, and some of the odd, horrifying things happening in the city at the same time -- the growing insanity of man who would shortly kill Chicago's popular mayor, and a "doctor" who later admitted to 27 murders and may have committed as many as 200. It's all mixed in with various tidbits and history that I've never come across elsewhere. Definitely a book for anyone who enjoys American history.
