Bubbles Ablaze

I love the Bubbles recipes and hints which appear as if by magic at the end of some chapters.
But I digress.
The Bubbles books are humorous detective stories based on the premise that Bubbles, a hairdresser who attended a journalism course at the local college, mixes up a very casual job with the local newspaper with her hairdressing career and being mother to a very mature teenager called Jane.
Her mother is slightly crazy and has a maniac sidekick called Genevieve, who between them get into (and out of) enough scrapes to keep you laughing until your cheeks hurt.
The writing is nicely structured and cleverly twisty. You get sucked in one way then the other until you think the book can't possibly end with anything except TBC. And yet it does.
Oh, and stiletto takes on a whole new meaning ;)

Very enjoyable fluff, caught at a campsite, along with a companion volume - I love the useful 'recipes' for beauty products included in the novel, so unusual!
