From back of book, "Sister India is that rarity, an orginal novel. It is both profound and mesmering." Looks good

I liked this book very much. It is the story of the Saraswati Guest House along the banks of the Ganges in the holy city of Varanasi India. It's proprietor is Madame Natraja, a 400lbs expatriate from North Carolina. We meet three of her guest and follow them as they learn the secrets of both Madame Natraja and the Ganges River. Disturbing but mesmerizing.

This turned out to be a very pleasant read with the political tension between Muslims and Hindus for background. Each character went on a deep journey in their exploration of the sacredness of the Ganges River. Powerful at times.
