we were on our boat in akaroa haurbour and i saw the book floating inside a plastic bag in the water. I picked it up and bout it home.

...joined by another observer. I looked back later on as we moved away, and the big gull was pecking at it like a packet of sangers. My heart sank, like I thought the book soon would. So glad that it was rescued.

It was a glorious day on the harbour. We'd been promised rain and cloud, but it cleared up for a beautiful Easter Sunday.

Looking away from the sun (and this is actually the photograph immediately preceding the one above), the light gives the circle of hills surrounding Akaroa a tremendous presence, like a backdrop to a theatre stage. It really is a delightful spot, and agai I thank the convention organisers for bringing us here.
